Busy weekend

We had a great time last week, getting the girls off to school. Their mom took off work to make sure all went well. One day the girls decided to put "tattoos" on Mom and Gramma. Of course we didn't want them drawing on us where it could be seen...we told them the only place we'd accept "tattoos" was on the bottoms of our feet. So they obliged. It tickled.

One afternoon they occupied themselves playing in the mud. I was just about to have a hissy and make them stop when they said, "Okay, but first, come look!" So I did. I don't know what he is, but he's very good! I fear that the yard crew will not understand that he's now a part of the family and must stay. How do you say "ignore" in Spanish?

They are very proud of their creation. I wonder if he has a name.

Now, speaking of another member of the family who DOES have a name...OMG, Miranda and our little neighbor boy are in class together. After a summer of snubbing, Miranda now has decided a boy is okay to have for a friend. It is sooo cute...and helpful for her to have someone to play with.

Anyway, while the big girls were making their Jaba the Hut clone, the little kids were doing their own thing. We now have adopted "Roger the Rock." Neither Megan nor Miranda ever liked dolls, but now Miranda has Roger.

Now one would think Roger is just a rock, but he is a very special rock. He is sensitive. He gets his feelings hurt. He gets happy. He gets comfortable. He feels warm or cold or hungry or thirsty. Miranda carries him around like the fake baby they give high school kids for the weekend! She made a soft bed for him, blankets, water, food, and put him to bed in the planter pot by the fireplace. I asked her what the plastic container (she put beside him) in the flower pot was...she said it was in case he had to puke in the middle of the night.

I hope he doesn't wet the bed.

Photos coming soon, if she remembers to bring Roger back here. Or if he didn't die or something over the weekend.
