Well, Grand Prix night was quite disappointing. The girls' cars showed poorly...evidence that we were amateurs. This was a huge deal and most of the other parents were into this like as if they had money wagered in each race. Although their cars were sleek, we needed to have lead weights implanted to make them go faster. The girls trailed the pack by a good 4 - 5 car lengths each race and it didn't take long for them to realize they didn't have a chance and to give up the excitement of "maybe next race". Gram is sad they didn't have any fun after all the emotional build-up. The old "it's not whether you win or lose, it's the fun of participation" doesn't quite fit this time. I feel like we let the girls down. Next year I will do things differently. I hate it when the kids have to pay for me learning my lessons.

At least it's one of those life lessons that is realitively harmless and there aren't huge consequences that follow. I'm sorry that you all didn't enjoy it.
