Grown-up day

The kids are busy this weekend so I'm having grown-up time! First there was a friend's birthday. My family gets together with their family, whom we have known and loved for 40 years, to celebrate holidays and special events. Our kids grew up together, and now their kids can know each other. It was so good to get to be together again. It's such fun to watch our children wiping snotty noses and having to run after their own the way we used to have to run after them!

After the party ended, Chris and I decided to be wild and crazy and went to the mall...the one that sometimes appears in the papers and seems to be the major gang headquarters for the Pacific NW. We walked the mall and Chris helped the economy as much as she thought she could get away with. She was almost in danger of hubby's retaliation of getting a regulation-size shuffleboard table in her TV room.

We arrived back at her house to bowls of steaming, yummy chili that her hubby made, and a glass of wine to go with it. Then she showed me how to do Facebook, and Nick showed me how to do the XBOX III skateboarding game. I'm pretty sure he was trying to gross me out, so I surprised him by begging he do more crash-and-burns, the grosser the better. "Jump him up so he hits his head on the overhead concrete, Nick!" "Come on, he still hasn't broken his collar bone!" If he thinks he's going to upset THIS gramma's sensibilities, he's gotta try harder than that!

Don't tell him but what really grosses me out is heights. Along with spiders and snakes. I can stand just about all the 12-year-old-boy gore and slime and disgusting things that he can come up with but I almost pass out driving over the Gallopin' Gertie.
