Sick (?) kids

Meg's lunch.

Trying to decide if they are sick enough to stay home from school...this was the part I HATED when my kids were in school and now I have to go through it all over again with grandkids! YUCK!

Meg woke up Monday with cold symptoms plus an upset stomach. So she stayed home. Miranda went. Tuesday they seemed find so I sent them both. At noon I get the call: "Megan is in the nurse's office. Come get her." I thought I'd go get her and then run my book back to the library while I was out, since it was due. While I'm in the library looking for something for Megan, my phone rings. (Sorry, librarian.) It was the school again..."This is the school nurse...we have another one for you." So I run back to the school and get Miranda.

Yesterday, though they both seemed pretty good, I kept them home for good measure. Today, Megan woke up with a sore throat and laryngitis. So she stayed home. Miranda was fine, so I put her on the bus. At 10:00, RING RING RING!

I left Megan with the neighbor and off I went. I told Nurse Ratchet at the school, "I believe SOMEONE has discovered that she gets to go home if she goes to the nurse's office saying she's sick. She told me, "When they do this, make them stay in bed for the entire day, no video games, no computer, no TV...nothing. Tell them if they are too sick to go to school, they need bed rest. They'll be so bored, they'll WANT to come back to school."

When we got home, Miranda was hungry for a snack. She asked for popcorn or ice cream, so I figured her tummy wasn't THAT bad. I said no and gave her something light, then put her in bed with only a couple of books. She slept for 4 1/2 hours! Maybe she WAS sick! But now she's better. And Nurse Ratchet was right...Miranda says she's going to school tomorrow and going to STAY there!
