Thanks to the teachers' strike, summer was extended until today for us. We had this calendar overlap with the State Fair (for once, our kids weren't in school during the fair), the weather was nice, I had the kids alone, and had just seen family photos of the Kansas State Fair that looked soooo fun. Since their mom was away on business, I had a perfect chance to do what I wanted...take the kids and feed them full of junk! Except none of our junk was appealing. We had to actually stop on the way home for dinner!
It was a personal victory because I have never done that sort of thing by myself...fought traffic and parking, crowds, not to mention kept from losing one or both kids...and was successful at my first attempt! :-) Gotta say, after the photos of the KS fair, I was very disappointed in ours. No deep fried pickles nor deep fried Oreos anywhere!!! Stuff like that is probably against the law in WA. Well, we had a great time anyway. I just love it when they tell me, "Thank you for taking us to have fun, Gramma," on the way home.
